A major goal of the Training Division for 2010 is to provide Solid, Realistic, Ongoing, Verifiable, Training (SROVT).
Drills will often have an on-line component in order to minimize class time and thus enhance drill-ground time.
DRILL DESCRIPTIONS
EMS Drill Types
King County Online training All King County course content for 2010 is available on the King County web site: www.emsonline.net. After viewing the material and completing the interactive activities, you take a post test assessment and complete a course evaluation. This schedule maximizes member flexibility. The six online classes will be covered in the practical night. If you choose to complete all of your King County tasks during the 2nd quarter, then you are complete for King County for the entire year.
To participate in the King County Practical, you must have completed all on-line quizzes at least 48 hours before the scheduled practical. There will be one King County Practical night each quarter. The next scheduled date is JUNE 16th, starting at 18:30 (6:30pm) hours.
The practical covers all six topics within the 3.5 hour drill. This practical night is so compact that it requires the commitment of everyone to come a few minutes early and stay focused on the skills and rotations of the scenarios. Any further questions may be directed to DIvision Chief Mik Preysz.
Run Review & Skill Stations Run Review is led by our Medical Program Director and County MPD, Dr. Michael Sullivan and is a critical component of our EMS OTEP program. Both EMTs and First Responders must attend two Run Reviews per quarter. Firefighters who are not EMS cross-trained and welcome end encouraged to attend. Attending Run Review is not open to non-active department members due to HIPAA Privacy. By signing the roster at Rune Review, you are signing a privacy agreement to not discuss patient protected health information (PHI).
Fire Drill Types
Fire Co. Evolutions Fire Company Evolutions will be held in each division. There is a short on-line course via Target Safety. The Second Quarter will concentrate on:
• Initial Attack on Wildland Interface Fire
Any further questions may be directed to Wildland Captain Maxx Jones.
Fire Division Drills There are three fire division drills per quarter. Firefighters must attend two of the three division drills each quarter. Fire division drills will provide more structure in performing routine high frequency/low risk tasks, while putting special emphasis on low frequency/high risk tasks. This quarter will concentrate on:
• Informal “walk-through” of high hazard structures to include updating information on QRS (Quick Response Sheets)
• Basic WASP Engine operations
Rescue Division Drills The Rescue Division typically meets the 3rd Thursday of each month and trains in specific areas of rescue. These rescue sub-specialties include; vehicle rescue, fireground operations, technical rope rescue and other all hazard first responder tasks. Non-Rescue Team members may also choose to attend a rescue division drill in lieu of one quarterly fire division drill by making arrangements with the Training Division. ANy further questions may be directed to Lt. Rich Harvey.
All Hazards Training
All Hazards training is a concept that recognizes the fact that many emergency situations have numerous components that cross the lines between medical care, rescue practices and hazard mitigation. This is accomplished with a combination of “All Hazards” drills, such as Mass Casualty Drills and the website www.targetsafety.com/oifr
There you will find any assignments that are assigned to you and the “due by” dates for those assignments. All Members have access to Target Safety.
