Training Reminder
Training
16/08/09 12:34
I want to make sure everyone is up to speed on their
training, and to clarify who is responsible for what
on our training schedule.
EMTs
Be sure to complete all your King County Online courses at least two days before the Sept 30th Hands On component. This is especially important if you are one of the folks who need to recertify prior to this November!
Firefighters (firefighter/EMTs, firefighter/paramedics)
Keep plugging away at your four S190 courses. You also have to turn in the communications drill quiz (or do it via e-mail). It is all in the Target Safety web site.
There are still folks who need one or more NIMS courses.
Get the jump on some 4th quarter training
You will also notice that there are now some Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Awareness courses. These courses are required by NFPA and other sanctioning bodies. We are an All Hazards response agency on an island positioned just south of the 2010 Olympic Games. You have until the end of the year, Dec 31st, to complete these WMD courses. These courses are assigned to ALL personnel on the department.
If you have questions, please contact me.

Pack Test Coming!
08/05/09 13:42
PACK TEST COMING!!!
Its an ancient tradition here with our wildland team! So git ‘er done!

The next pack test will take place on May 20th. Weigh in at Station 21. Launch at 6:00 at the site. You must provide your own pack of 45 pounds. Please have that together BEFORE arriving at the station for weigh in. There is at least 1 vest but it is 52 pounds... A reminder that everyone must pack test to remain a Wildland Firefighter. There will be one last make-up pack test on June 5-6th (date/time yet to be determined). Due to an overwhelming schedule, there will be no other pack test dates this year. If you miss your chance, you can stay on the roles and recert next year or find a certified pack test off-island.
