We
are currently preparing for a possible long weather
event. The Chief officer staff asks for the following
preparedness measures:
Please call or email Station 21 with your status. We are compiling a list of who is available when and where.
Safety First. Make sure your own home and family are prepared. Warmth, light, water and food are basic.
Check your personal gear for readiness.
Be prepared for long duration calls. The chains prevent vehicles from going anywhere quickly.
Calls in remote areas such as smoke checks may be better handled by the closest officer or responder rather than a standard response. The Duty officer may request limited response for safety reasons.
Lts: Please insure rigs are fueled and ready to go. The propane company has been notified to top off all outlying stations ASAP. The cold created several issues at the fire on Sunday. Frozen hose lines, extreme ice and dangerous footing, cold responders and then apparatus freezing up. Keep vehicles inside when possible and drain pumps.
The district web site is down due to problems with the server host, Network Solutions. It may be weather related. Please be patient.
We will keep you posted of any changes as we get them. Thank you for your excellent safe response in this weather event.

Check your personal gear for readiness.
- Cold weather drains batteries. Charge your radios and bring your AEDs out from the cold.
- Make sure your PPE is complete with a working flashlight. High winds are predicted and power outages may follow. Light is critical on any scene and every bulb helps.
- Additional blankets, a shovel, sand or kitty litter for traction can be very helpful.
